A red moon appeared in the sky, this event known as the red moon event. Survivors had to hide in a walled city. Some survivors had mental mutations. Those who could not control their mutations would spread mental plague and radiation. This harmed normal people and threatened surviving humans. To deal with this pollution, the walled city made a cleanup department. They hired people who could control spiritual energy. The protagonist, Lu Xin, applied for the most dangerous cleanup job.
